Over the years, we have seen our classification of beautiful women centered on those of a particular height. To buttress this point, all beauty pageants have set the height criteria at 5ft 7 and above. In essence millions of beautiful women who do not meet this criterion are not accorded the opportunity to compete in these pageants. This has rubbed on the minds of the society, and the confidence of many ladies and needs to be changed. In a country like Nigeria where statistics have shown that the average height of most Nigerian women is between 5ft 3-5ft6.
It's a well known fact that some of the most beautiful, confident and self accomplished women are the so called "petite or short women". Take Jada Pinkett a famous black American actor married to one of the greatest actors of all time. She is always listed as one of the most beautiful women on earth.Yet,she stands a t 4 ft 9.Famous desperate house wives star Eva Longoria stands at 5FT 2.Back here in Nigeria we have Genevieve Nnaji, Rita Dominic and a lot more who are petite but have made a difference.
Therefore, taking this to cognizance, we introduce Miss Petite Nigeria, to give petite ladies the platform to compete in a beauty pageant designed for them and expose their capabilities and beauty to the world at large.With the theme for this year being “redefining beauty in an environmentally friendly way”, Miss Petite Nigeria identifies with environmentally friendly practices as we seek to use Miss Petite Nigeria as an avenue for environmental friendly awareness. Our major focus being on E-Wastes, Tree plainting.
It's time for us to change that notion that short women aren't beautiful. We saw the introduction of Miss Big and Beautiful Nigeria, which changed our view that only stick thin women are beautiful. Let's do the same for Petite women.
